Is Pauserby a finished service?
Pauserby is a prototype. The whole service, including route checks, evidence maps, community reports, and accounts, is still being developed and tested. Features and coverage may change. Read About and limitations for what Pauserby can and cannot establish.
What does the Pedestrian map show?
The Pedestrian map shows researched pedestrian accident reports across Singapore. Find a place moves the map and scopes nearby reports. Filter reports searches report text; it does not find places. Search this area applies the area you have moved to, and Clear map area returns to the full list. List-only reports remain discoverable because their published locations cannot be mapped precisely enough.
What are crossings and covered linkways?
These optional layers use published LTA map snapshots. Map layers shows the dataset month, source, and limitations. Zoom to a neighbourhood to load enabled layers. An incomplete or unavailable layer is labelled; missing geometry does not establish that there is no crossing or shelter. The map does not guarantee current access, shelter, or step-free travel.
What are your sources?
- LTA Traffic Incidents feed: Current reports and incidents Pauserby has observed over time, shown under Traffic accidents. The feed does not identify pedestrian involvement.
- Police and news reports: Singapore Police Force releases and news coverage researched for the Pedestrian map archive. Each case links to its source.
- Community reports: Close shaves and accidents submitted by verified members. A moderator reviews them before publication, but the claims are not independently verified.
OneMap provides the walking directions used by Check a route.
What does Check a route show?
Check a route draws one walking route between places you choose, then shows nearby reported pedestrian accidents, approved community reports, and LTA traffic accidents that Pauserby has observed. Current LTA reports are identified separately. Each result says why it was included, and the evidence is available in a list as well as on the map.
If nothing matches my route, is it safe?
No. An empty result means only that the available sources returned no match under Pauserby's rules. Reports can be missing, delayed, or too imprecise to match automatically. Pauserby does not assess safety or compare routes by risk.
How current are the LTA reports?
Pauserby normally checks LTA's Traffic Incidents feed every two minutes. The current view is a feed snapshot, so check it again before setting out. Recent history starts when Pauserby began collecting and covers only the incidents it observed; a delayed or unavailable feed is called out where it affects the view.
Are all pedestrian accidents included?
No. The archive includes publicly reported pedestrian accidents that Pauserby has researched, including fatalities, injuries, and cases where the injury outcome is unknown. Public reporting is incomplete, so the archive is not a complete record of pedestrian accidents. Reports without a defensible map location remain in the list.
Are the map markers exact accident locations?
Often not. A pedestrian report may identify a junction, road, or approximate area rather than the point of impact. LTA coordinates and the selected places in community reports are also approximate references. Open a result to see its source and location limits; a nearby marker does not prove that an event happened on your route.
Do I need an account?
You can explore the map, check a route, and read the public reports without signing in. A verified account is required to submit a community report or report a data inaccuracy. Community submissions are reviewed before publication.
What happens to my route and notes?
When browser tab storage is available, your current review, walkthrough checks, and private notes can be restored at Check a route after a reload or a visit to another page. The homepage map does not reopen your saved route. The recovery copy expires after 24 hours without a review update, or when you clear the route or close the tab. Pauserby does not save a public route history. Read Privacy for what is sent to generate a route and how analytics work.
